Etsy Spotlight: The Bare Bones

My camera charger is still lost so I'm resorting to spotlights again to keep blogging! I'll find it soon though, I need too! I'm going to visit Kim on Friday and I intend to take photos! I may have to use my humble Lumix if all else fails though. I may even take my Holga! Choice choices.

In the mean time, here is some gorgeous photography by Claire Alice Young Photography.
I've noticed a trend in photography that favours a vintage-feel, with soft lomo-like tones. Some of this shoot almost looks colour crossed.

My favourite is the pearl beaded sleeveless shirt. I am a complete sucker for sleeveless.
I just think it looks so elegant. And the pearls remind me of Coco Chanel.

In the mean time I have two days left of school before a big shopping trip in Melbourne (!!)
with Kim, as mentioned.
Can't wait!

You can shop Bare Bones' vintage collection here.

P.S. A quick side note about Chanel; I really love movie soundtracks and
this has been playing all night for me. I haven't even seen the movie (but I will!),
I simply love how charming this music is.

“Portrait”

bwkimkim2kim3

I’ve previously mentioned that Bryan came over to snap a few photos for his personal project – “Portrait”. These are a few photos that I got off him, and I certainly can’t wait for the rest and see how it turns out. It was a funny session. One moment, we were all serious and I was trying my best to look normal… and then the next moment, we would have a laughing fit for reasons I would not mention. =P Oh, alright, I’ll tell you. We mainly just laughed about how spastic my face was (thanks to his super speedy camera).

Bendigo is amazing. Time spent with Rachael, Amy, Lydia, Michelle and aunt Ruth is even more amazing. I haven’t felt such peace and privacy in so long. There are a lot of people and a lot of things going on, but at the same time, there is enough space and privacy to do the things you want to do. It’s amazing. It’s one of the reasons why year 12 was the best time of my life – yet. One week is not enough. I love the my girls, I love the time and the people here. I’ll be back next weekend. Oh I can’t wait! <3

Etsy Spotlight: Vera Vague

I love Etsy, I really do.
Not often for buying clothes, because in all honesty, often a dress I've bought online
turns out vastly different from the dress that arrives at my door.
Although, I did get a lovely genuine 1940s ball gown show up when I thought
I was buying a simple striped formal dress. The only shame now is
there's nothing in my life at all fancy enough for it.
A deb ball perhaps?

The thing about Etsy is its sheer size. There is just SO MUCH vintage!
And amongst the slew of mediocre product shots, sometimes some pictures are so amazing I mistake
them for fine art.
Such is the nature of Vera Vague, a vintage vendor from Michigan, US.

Not only are the photos amazing and artful, the vintage is divine and extremely well priced.

Also her store is colour coded.
Which is both convenient and adorable.
Shop at Vera Vague on her Etsy store, here

a week of pink obsession

302901_10150385443558740_702038739_8518508_2027428248_n307286_10150392807508740_1524084110_n312039_10150392821553740_702038739_8548102_1884408597_n391756_10150393049313740_702038739_8548532_129527320_n

mmm, I still can’t get over my new pink jeans from Bardot. It’s my perfect shade of pink. I couldn’t turn away and walk out of the store without taking it home with me. After much hesitation, I let mom buy it for me and I am so glad I did. I can see myself wearing these on a daily basis. Such a good investment! And that silk pink shirt… that’s from Bardot too. No no, I bought them on separate occasions. I honestly never thought I’d find anything good, since chiffon and cotton don’t appeal that much to me… but the silk shirt caught my eye, and the silkiness my heart. <3

Bryan came over to snap a few photos for his personal ‘portrait’ project. What was really inspiring was that he wanted to capture the different race, background and environment that people (his friends) live in. When he came into my room, he commented that it’s like something he would see off the pages of Frankie. That was the best comment anyone could give to a girl like me. I can’t wait till he has the pictures ready, until then…head to his tumblr and have a good night!

Sixteen

Photos taken by myself, Jackson and our friend Simon.
Wearing Sportsgirl dress, Family Affairs Skirt, typekey necklace, equip brooch and (unpictured) red vintage Hush Puppies shoes.

I didn't feel much of a change when I turned 16, because I've felt 16 for quite some time now.
When I was 8 years old my mother turned to my one day and said 'You're like a sixteen year old'
I took it to mean that I was very mature and grown up, but looking back at my formative years now that I am 16, I was no where near 'grown up'. I'm still barely grown up now.
I can do the laundry however, that's a plus.

I had a little party with some friends and we basically rolled around on the floor of the loungeroom and ate pizza for a couple hours, stopping in between these two things to sing the Pokemon theme song and read an old Miffy story book. As well as this we stuffed cake into our mouths, played with my new toy puppy, gossiped about kids from school and in general, made a ruckus.

We're not grown up at all.
